We have been particularly blessed over the past several weeks to spend lots of time with our Peruvian friends. Between game nights, movie nights, birthdays, church events, and trips to the beach, we have had lots of opportunities to spend quality time with people that we know and love. Here are some pictures of recent happenings:
Mano de Dios (Hand of God)
That is what we have been calling our service projects here in Lima, since we are seeking to be God’s “hands”. And this past Sunday, we had a excellent opportunity to serve and love on some of God’s children. Our whole church went out to Paraíso, a marginalized community on the outskirts of Lima, in order to have some worship time and play time with some kids that live there. After the fun, we were able to hand out school supplies to each of those kids (school starts in March, after summer break). Many of their families have a difficult time buying the required school supplies for their children. It was a wonderful time of fun, worship, and service!
Frontón
We decided to go play frontón – a Peruvian racquet sport involving one wall, a tennis-like court, and a wooden racquet – the other day in a nearby park. Since Kami had bought us both racquets as a Christmas present (she knows how much I love racquet sports), we decided that it was time to start playing. It was a blast learning to play this new sport, meeting people in the park, and running in to our friend Rosario. While we got quite a workout, the sun also gave us a nice reddish glow. We can’t wait for the next time to play!
One Month
Well, it has been one month of marital bliss, and we are loving every minute of it. After nearly two weeks here in Lima, our new apartment is starting to feel like home. We are adjusting to life and ministry together, and we can’t wait for what is to come in the future. On our one month anniversary, which was also Valentine’s Day, we decided to celebrate with dinner, ice cream, and a movie. It was a great way to celebrate our new life together. Hoping that you had a great one too!
Wedding Pics
Well, the wedding came and went, and we had a blast! It was so great having so many family and friends with us on our special day, and there were so many more that we wish could have been there. We will write an update on the wedding day and events surrounding it, but for the meantime, here are some pictures.
